TMS Therapist

My name is Taylor, and I was born and raised in the beautiful sunshine state, Florida. Specifically, Zephyrhills, FL. Yes, you guess it the city of world-famous pure water. I went to a private school most of my life. Then I went to Pasco High School in Dade City, FL, my sophomore year until I graduated. I graduated with my CNA certification in 2017 and started my college education at Keiser University. I joined Florida TMS Clinic in 2020 as a TMS Therapist, and I love it. I am married to the love of my life, who I have known since I was six years old. He is currently in the Army and stationed at Fort Carson, which is located in Colorado Springs. We are hoping for him to be home for good very soon. Being a military wife helps me understand some of my patients’ emotional stress as we serve many military patients via the Tricare network and the VA network. I am a mother of a beautiful daughter who often drags me back to my favorite spot in Florida, Disney World. I also enjoy fishing, going to the beach, and, most importantly, spending time with my family. One of my favorite quotes is, “ Focus on the step in front of you, not the whole staircase.”

What do I do as a TMS Therapist at Florida TMS Clinic?

I am a TMS Therapist at Florida TMS Clinic. I greet patients and talk to them about how they are doing, how their day is going, and any questions or concerns. Once I bring them to their treatment room, I begin setting them up for their TMS treatment. I start by placing the tracker on their head and taking their landmarks. Then, I give them their earplugs and adjust the chair and neck rest to make them more comfortable.

Once the chair and neck rest are set up, I place the coil in the correct position according to the 3D navigation and make sure the patient is comfortable. After adjusting the TMS settings in the computer, I tell the patient to let me know if they feel any discomfort on their head or in their eye. Then, I count down from 3 and press start on the TMS machine. Once I know that the patient is comfortable, I go to the front office and monitor them during their treatment. Once they are done, I take the coil off their head and move the chair back to its original position. I then make sure the patient is feeling okay and letting them know they are done for the day and seeing them tomorrow.

What do I love about being a TMS Therapist?

I am so grateful to be working with a wonderful group of co-workers and patients. I love learning new things about my patients and making a connection with them. I love being a TMS Therapist because of the difference it makes in people’s lives. Some people do not get the results from medication or do not like their side effects. TMS is an excellent alternative for depression and anxiety, and seeing the change in my patients is the best part of my job. I miss my patients as they complete their TMS treatment because I do not see them every day anymore. Still, at the same time, it is a beautiful thing because it means we helped them to feel the best they can, and we put their anxiety and depression into remission, which is fantastic. I have seen Transcranial Magentic Stimulation changing people’s life. Regaining control over your life is such a beautiful experience to see unfolding in front of your eyes. It makes my job so much more enjoyable and meaningful.
