Tricare Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy Coverage Policy

Does Tricare cover TMS therapy? Tricare or Humana Military cover TMS therapy when the following criteria are met:

The beneficiary has failed to respond to a less intensive form of treatment or that a less intensive intervention is not more appropriate.

In 2014, Tricare considered TMS (also referred to as repetitive TMS (rTMS)) for the treatment of major depressive disorder, to be proven.

In 2016, Tricare had provided coverage for TMS therapy.
